RENO, NEVADA – JANUARY 20, 2017: Raffle girls display auction items at the Legacy Night banquet and auction that is part of the 2017 Wild Sheep Foundation Convention and Sporting Expo better known as "The Sheep Show", held at the Peppermill Resort, Spa & Casino in Reno , NV. The convention features more than 400 exhibits of guides and outfitters from around the world plus retailers selling gear, guns, art, taxidermy, jewelry, furs and every other outdoor item you can think of. The three-day event includes silent and live auctions, raffles, lectures, backpack races and more. Later that night, a bighorn sheep hunting license would be auctioned off for more than $300,000. Over the past 24 months, the Wild Sheep Foundation has directed more than $8.75 million to programs that include the promotion of wild sheep enhancement and conservation, habitat improvement, youth education, and sound wildlife management practices. FAIRVIEW, WA – AUGUST 10th, 2017: In Fairview, WA ministers pray before Sunday morning service at the Ukrainian Bible Church, which is home to more than 1500 members. Because of a 1990 amendment which benefits those who suffered from religious persecution in the former Soviet Union, Ukrainians face a more lenient standard than other refugees applicants. Over the years the amendment has created a migration chain with one family sponsoring the next and now greater Portland, which includes Vancouver and Fairview, is home to more than 100,000 Slavic Christians. In the Central Eastern Chinese Province of Henan lies the Shaolin Temple, home of the famous kung fu monks. Eager to take advantage of their prestige, more than 50 kung fu schools dot the surrounding countryside, all of whom house and train children in the timeless Chinese Art of Wushu. The Song Mountain Shaolin Exquisite Kung Fu School is once such place, housing 500 students ages 3 to 20. In the masculine world of kung fu, mostly male faces are found in the halls and training yard. Yet times are changing and 23 girls are now calling the school home with ChengWu ShuQin being the newest and youngest of the girls. Now she is fighting both to find her place among the crowd and against homesickness. The students wake at 5:30 for their morning practice. Their days are regimented and consist of 4 hours of kung fu practice and 4 to 6 hours of class with lights out at 9:30.
PORTLAND, OR - JULY 1, 2014: In his bedroom at night Owen Lanahan, age 15, make beats, watches Youtube video, and texts his friends under the covers to hide from his mom. He says he will stay up until around 2am once or twice a week doing this. Currently there is a term for this called "vamping" where kids will stay up all night on their computers and social media. On Friday, March 18th, 2016 Ammon Bundy, 40, who led the occupation at the wildlife reserve in Oregon is now being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center in Portland, OR. Bundy led a group of protesters in seizing the bird sanctuary Jan. 2 in Harney County to protest federal control over public land. He was arrested Jan. 26 along with other key occupation figures on their way to a community meeting 100 miles away. He is also the son of Cliven Bundy, whose 2014 standoff with federal officials in Nevada over $1 million in unpaid grazing fees and penalties made national news. Photo by NashCO for the Guardian
On Wednesday July 23, 2008 James Bostwick visits the condo at 17359 SW Donald Ct. in Beaverton, Oregon he abandoned two weeks prior. Bostwick says that the home he orginally paid $202,500 for two years ago is now valued at $156,000 and he is now trying to give it back to the bank.
