This summer NashCO was approached by the design consultancy firm XPLANE to create a personalized visual library for the brand new web site they were launching. Like so many successful, creative companies they were so busy making their clients look good that their own branding wasn't showing off just how fab they were.
A company big on visual thinking and storytelling, they were looking for imagery that was authentic and just a little bit raw. When the VP contacted me he actually said he was looking for a photojournalist's sensibility and I almost high-fived myself. Needless to say, it ended up being a great fit (and I haven't even mentioned their unlimited candy supply or foosball table). Our job was to bring to life their interactive and innovative vibe.
Turns out this involves photographing post-its, lots of post-its.
We photo bombed their meetings, their client collateral, luncheons, and play time. And over the week, we got to know them pretty well….they are a company of doodlers who talk with their hands, bring their dogs to work and get excited about collaborative thinking. They are also teachers who believe in community and open their doors every first Thursday for something called Visual Thinking School (http://xplane.com/vts) where they tackle challenges with design principles. Don't you just love that?
Making white boards look cool isn't always easy, but these guys pulled it off with aplomb.
